What are your opening times ?
We are open Monday to Friday 7.30 to 5.30 GMT. ( 6.00BST. ). Saturday 8.00 to 2.00 Sunday – closed. We will endeavour to meet your requirements, so if you need to collect outside of these times, please contact us on one of the numbers.
Where are you located ?
We are approximately 9 miles north of Skipton, and 4 miles from the A59 at Bolton Abbey. There is a map in the ‘contact us ‘ section of this site.
What are your delivery charges ?
Orders over £500 + vat are delivered free up to a 50 mile radius. Orders under £500 + vat are charged at £1 / mile up to a 50 mile radius. Please ring to discuss deliveries outside these parameters.
How can I pay for my goods ?
If paying at the sales counter, we accept Debit, Credit and Purchasing cards, cheques and cash. If paying over the phone, we accept Credit, Debit and Purchasing cards. Deliveries can be paid for at the time with cash or cheque. No credit will be given unless pre arranged.
Can I have my fence installed by Hartlington Fencing ?
Yes you can. We will be pleased to quote you for installation. Please call and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.
Are your products measured in metric or imperial ?
Most products are measured in metric, which tend to be slightly smaller than the imperial conversion, but some are still manufactured to the old imperial sizes, for example, sawn timber is all metric but we do stock some true 12′ rails to facilitate fence repairs in old fences. Round timber is generally a generous imperial measurement, steel products are usually metric, but things like weld mesh are still manufactured in imperial. If you are in any doubt, please ring and we will be happy to help.
What different types of timber treatment do you offer ?
We offer a range of different treatments to our timber, intended for different end uses. These include the standard UC2 treatment in mixed species timber, which is a modern equivelent of the old CCA tanalising treatment. We offer some of our more popular products as UC4 treated. This is where the timber ( redwood ) is kiln dried before treatment and then this warrants a 15yr guarantee by the supplier. We also offer some products treated with creosote, but this restricts their end use but also extends their desired life expectancy to 30 yrs +.
Do I need planning permission for my fence ?
As a general rule, any fence under 1.8 m high would not require planning although we would always advise you check with your local authority as they do tend to vary. In some areas, such as National Parks, product type may be an issue, as planning officers often do not wish to see fence types that are out of keeping with the surrounding area.
Why do I need a service contract for my electric gate ?
Automated gates, both industrial and domestic, remain the responsibility of owner to keep them in a safe working condition. The best way of achieving this is to have your gates routinely serviced and maintained by a professional company. Not only does this ensure legislative compliance, but it also prolongs and maximises the lifetime of the gate.
Do you manufacture the products you sell ?
All the timber we sell is processed off site, and as much as possible is sourced from northern England and southern Scotland, although we do do a certain amount of re manufacturing on site. We do manufacture / fabricate a large amount of steel products through our fabrication shop

- employ responsible energy management practices resulting in reduced consumption and encouragement of energy efficiency throughout our operations as we have with our 10kw PV system for the fabrication shop and office.
- avoid unnecessary use of hazardous materials and processes and take all reasonable steps to prevent damage to either public or ecological health where such materials are in essential use.
